The Wastewater Division is responsible for the operation of the Village's Wastewater Treatment Plant and sanitary sewer system.  This includes the maintenance and operation of a treatment plant, four lift stations, and over 23 miles of sanitary sewers.  The wastewater treatment plant collects wastewater from both East and West Dundee, treats the wastewater, and discharges the effluent (treated wastewater) into the Fox River. The treatment plant’s effluent, which is discharged to the Fox River, meets/exceeds mandated water quality standards established by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

Sewer Backups
When sewage drainage problems occur, the resident or business should determine if the problem is internal by checking all drains.  When only one drain is affected, it is possible the drain trap or the line leading from the drain is clogged and needs to be cleaned by a commercial cleaner and/or a rodding cable.  When all drains are affected, the customer should immediately call the Village of East Dundee and we will help determine if the problem is being caused by a blockage in the Village’s main sewer line.  If no problem is detected in the Village’s main sewer line, the customer should immediately call a plumber to assess the situation, and (if necessary) rod the sewer service line connecting the residence to the main sewer line.
