Frank Catalano, Masters Class Peformance

Jazz Superstar Frank Catalano Offers Free Master Class, August 2 Any and all musicians are invited to come listen, learn and jam with jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano at a free Master Class, Saturday, August 2; 6pm at the Depot, 319 N. River Street in East Dundee. The class will be followed by a short performance featuring the talent and artistry of Catalano. Success came early for Catalano. He signed with Delmark Records at age 18 which resulted in a string of critically acclaimed recordings. Catalano has performed or recorded with pop stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Destiny's Child, John Legend and others. Catalano made his major label debut in 2008 with "Bang!" his first CD for the legendary Savoy label, a division of Columbia Music Entertainment. "Bang!" debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. His previous CD, "Mighty Burner" was on the Billboard Charts for 20 straight weeks, establishing him as one of the top-selling saxophonists in the U.S. Catalano performed with Miles Davis, Randy Brecker, Charles Earland, Stan Getz, Betty Carter, Von Freeman, Tito Puente, Tony Bennett, and Louis Bellson, while still in high school. Catalano's recent Ropeadope recording, "God's Gonna Cut You Down" debuted at No. 2 on the iTunes Jazz sales chart and was the No. 1 charting Instrumental album upon its release in April 2015. His "Love Supreme Collective" debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts in July 2014. In addition, Catalano and his band will be performing at this year’s Heritage Fest on Saturday, Sept. 19, starting at 6pm on The Depot Stage. Admission is free. Motor Mondays

If you love cars, our monthly Motor Mondays are the place you want to be! Held on Monday June 1, July 6, August 3, & September 7, from 5 p.m. until dusk, these events are family-friendly and will offer musical entertainment, raffles, daily food specials from area restaurants and Classic Cars. Car show Open to ALL Car enthusiasts. All cars are welcome to display for free. We will also have two "race cars" on display by area enthusiasts. Event occurs rain or shine. In the event of rain, go have a cold one at one of the local establishments and enjoy your evening anyway.

Historical Walk

Get your walking shoes on for the last time this year and meet us at The Depot at 11 am for a "Historical Churches" Walking Tour! Come and learn from local historian and author, Phil Aleo. He will be our guide for a FREE walking tour exploring two of Dundee’s oldest churches--Immanuel Lutheran and First Methodist. Tour will depart from 319 N. River St (The Depot) in East Dundee. A little about Phillip A. Aleo: born in Chicago and raised in the Dundee Township area, Aleo is a photographer and historian who has researched subjects ranging from ancient to local history. His local books include The Midwest Motorsport Legend Meadowdale Raceways; Dundee Township Moments Frozen In Time; The Chateau Louise and The Historic Business District of Carpentersville. Tail Waggin' Tuesdays

Calling all four-legged creatures! Our monthly Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays will feature a family-friendly environment with local, canine-focused vendors, demonstrations and entertainment. Come ready to enjoy the fun themes this year. In June, we'll have "Happy Jack" trick shows at 5:30 and 7pm - dress your canine as any famous "Jack". In July, we'll be celebrating French Bastille Days celebrating all things French, and have a pet parade. In August, we'll salute our Police K9 Units with a demonstration., and lastly in September, we'll be celebrating our Heritage - German, Irish, Scottish! Held monthly at The Depot on 319 N. River St., from 5 until dusk, June-September, all canines and their owners will be welcomed so long as they behave themselves.

Wine Down Wednesdays

5:00PM at The Depot, 319 N. River St. East Dundee

Wine Down Wednesdays is a wine lovers dream. Guests will be entertained by a live jazz trio as they walk the grounds of The Depot while sampling wine. Each event will feature six different wines, (3) red & (3) white--one sparkling, for tasting and sampling. All wines tasted are available for purchase at the event. A $5.00 tasting fee per three wines sampled will be charged. Valid ID’s are required for those wishing to taste featured wines. Guests will have the opportunity to select the wines they wish to sample. We start the season featuring wine selections from South America in June, West Coast Wines in July, Italian wines in August and ending with wines from Europe in September. Art classes will be available but with a twist! All are welcome to create a masquerade mask under the direction of Artisticology staff. Masks can then be worn at an end of the season Masquerade Ball on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5-9pm at the Depot. Live music, local food plates and a great night on the Depot grounds will be offered.

Immanuel Lutheran "Go Fish 5k"

When: Saturday, August 22, 2015 8:30-9:30am Run/Walk (Check-In begins at 7:00am) 8-10:30am Pancake Breakfast (Teachers will be flipping pancakes!) and Afterparty (Music, Food, Bouncy houses, Fun, and Prizes!) Who: Everyone! Individuals AND Families! From couch potatoes to disciplined runners…run and/or walk to support F.I.S.H Food Pantry! Strollers welcome. Where: The run begins at the Fox River Trail near Immanuel Lutheran Church; the Afterparty/Breakfast will be held on church grounds. Why: This year all proceeds from the race will benefit the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry, a volunteer-run organization which provides food/necessities to over 6,500 families per year in the Dundee area. Come out and help others while benefiting your own health and exercising with family and friends! Cost: $25-individual (includes a T-shirt)/$50-family (includes two T-shirts; additional shirts are $8 each.) Same day registration is available. Bag pick-up available Friday 8/21: 3:30-4:30pm.

DTPD "The Pursuit"

Think "Amazing Race" for our community. Dundee Township Park District has created The Pursuit to bring together friends and family for a day of fun! An event like this is a way to promote team building, engage in healthy competition and have a great time! A bulk of the details regarding The Pursuit will be kept confidential until the day of the event. We can tell you this…after meeting at Graffleman Park for check-in, you will receive your first clue. Wear comfortable clothes as you'll travel on foot from clue to clue. We'll test your knowledge of our community and challenge you to fun activities. You will strategically plan your course of action to complete each task. Will you be able to outsmart your competitors? REGISTRATION DEADLINE: August 10. Check in begins at 9:30 am. Teams consist of four individuals: one team member must be 18 years or older.

Earth Day, Every Day Community Gardening Project

The Antique Appraisal Faire is available to anyone interested in determining the value of items they own.Appraisers from MIR Appraisal Services, Inc., celebrating over 20 years in the appraisal business, will be on hand to conduct the appraisals. The cost is $10 per item (cash or check) and you are limited to two items. Mir Appraisal specializes in appraising fine and decorative art, jewelry, antiques, furniture, and vintage couture. Their qualified appraisers and researchers abide by a strict code of ethics set forth by the International Society of Appraisers.
