In the tradition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, each year during the first weekend of December (second weekend after Thanksgiving) downtown East and West Dundee come to life in a Victorian Christmas celebration with small town atmosphere.
The weekend kicks off with tree lighting ceremonies, hot cocoa, a visit from Santa and live portrayals of Christmas scenes in the merchant windows along River Street and Main Street. Saturday begins with the cornerstone event: the Spirit of Christmas Parade. Other popular events include Nativity Walk & Children's Parties 11am – 6pm, Gingerbread House Making, Festival of Trees, Santa's Petting Zoo and, Christmas tree sales by the Dundee Lions Club in Grafelman Park. Carriage Rides, 6-9pm at the Depot, $10 per adult, children 12 and under free. Horse Drawn Wagon Rides,12 yrs and older $5 each, 10 am-2pm. Hot cider and hot chocolate available at the The Depot, 10am-3pm
